State-of-the-art XRD -

HALO’s unique X-ray diffraction technology (XRD) facilitates new capability in both large and small format solutions, which could not otherwise be considered. We are already exploiting larger XRD solutions in the ONYX product line, while at the same time scaling down HALO XRD can realise new desktop alarm resolution systems.

Alarm Resolution (AR) is changing. New requirements and concepts of operation are being considered, along with recognised capability gaps resulting from limitations of existing equipment. New HALO solutions for AR will target these opportunities and deliver next generation screening capability.

HALO ARES CT/XRD desktop solution -

• Using CT and XRD data simultaneously in a small format desktop solution.

• Screen a full range of common stream of commerce (SoC) items (there are no container or object types in SoC that cannot be screened) unlike other alarm resolution devices that utilise electromagnetic or optical techniques.

• Ultra-low single digit false alarm rates across all container types and small electronic devices.

• Significantly improved XRD signal-to-noise performance through XRD back-projection, reconstruction, and object segmentation (analogous to CT performance improvement over projection X-ray).

• Improved detection performance by leveraging the synergy of co-located CT and XRD imaging domains.

• CT and XRD automated threat recognition (ATR) algorithms.

• Open Architecture (OA) support compliant.

The ARES concept will soon produce a new desktop system having both CT and XRD components collocated within the same enclosure to generate geometrically aligned CT and XRD voxel data simultaneously.

This combination of 3D CT and 3D XRD information provides next-generation datasets from which the highest threat detection performance can be achieved with the lowest levels of false alarms.
